Press Release: Conference on the Development of the Disaster Risk Management Strategy
As part of the work of developing the Disaster Risk Management Strategy that will guide the work of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and improve support for National Red Cross Societies in the future, the IFRC will host on September 11-12, 2019, from 8AM to 5PM, at the Montebelo Girassol Hotel in Maputo, the first consultative meeting on the Development of the Disaster Risk Management Strategy.
This strategy will define the scope, strategic direction and priorities in the prevention, response and recovery programs for the full spectrum of disasters and crises in Southern Africa. The goal with this consultation is to ensure that we have a strategy that addresses important issues and gaps in the Risk Management Strategy of the region.
The second stage of the development of the Risk Management Strategy will be the validation workshop to be held in Pretoria, in which external partners such as UN agencies, NGOs and other partners of the Red Cross Movement will be invited to share their views and contribute to the drafting of the document.
